Overview
When an aluminium cable has to land on a copper busbar or breaker terminal, a plain copper or aluminium lug alone is not ideal: dissimilar metals in contact in the presence of moisture can corrode. A bimetallic lug or connector puts an aluminium barrel on the cable side and a copper palm on the terminal side.
Empire Alloys processes both copper and aluminium in Jamnagar and manufactures bimetallic lugs and connectors along with its copper lugs and aluminium split bolts, so a project can source its complete termination set from one plant.
Types and variants we make
Bimetallic cable lugs
Aluminium barrel, copper palm.
Bimetallic connectors
Joints between aluminium and copper conductors.
Custom bimetallic parts
Special palms, holes or barrels to drawing.

Materials, plating and packing
Free-cutting brass (CZ121 / IS 319 type) is the default for machined parts; copper, copper alloys, aluminium, gunmetal and steel are also processed in-house. Plating options at Empire Alloys include tin, copper, chrome, nickel and zinc, with shot blasting and nitric wash available as surface treatments.
Parts are packed to suit the shipment: PVC or thermal PVC bags, cartons, shrink-wrap, strapped wooden cases or pallets, with every bag and carton labelled for easy identification.
